PP-IP’s 10th Congress & 27th Anniversary: Strengthening Unity, Shaping the Future of Electricity

Behind the electricity that lights homes, powers industry, and sustains people’s lives lies the dedication of workers who ensure the electricity system continues to operate. Therefore, the future of Indonesia’s electricity system cannot be determined without involving workers and unions as a vital part of every process of change.

This enthusiasm accompanied the implementation of the 10th Congress of the Persatuan Pegawai PT PLN Indonesia Power (PP-IP) in Semarang on August 31 to September 2, 2026. This congress felt even more special because it took place simultaneously with the celebration of PP-IP’s 27th Anniversary.

The congress was more than just a routine organizational event. This highest forum serves as a momentum to evaluate the organization’s progress, unite efforts, strengthen consolidation, and determine the direction of PP-IP’s efforts for the next three years. Amidst corporate transformation and significant changes in the energy sector, PP-IP is required to be increasingly solid, democratic, adaptive, independent, and imbued with integrity.

With the theme “United to Oversee Transformation to Safeguard and Improve Prosperity, Towards a Sustainable Future for Indonesia’s Electricity,” the 10th Congress emphasized that transformation should not be solely focused on structural changes and business performance. It must also protect job sustainability, improve employee competency, strengthen social dialogue, and ensure the well-being of all members.

One of the key decisions of the 10th Congress was the election of Bro Fandi Setia as the General Chair of PP-IP at the Central Level (Tingkat Pusat) for the 2026–2029 period. This mandate carries a significant responsibility to strengthen the organization, maintain the union’s independence, advocate for the rights and welfare of its members, and contribute to the company’s sustainability and progress.

Congratulations and success to Bro Fandi Setia. May he be given continued ease and strength in carrying out his new mandate. It is hoped that the elected leadership will be able to make PP-IP closer to its members, responsive to change, and consistently ensure that employee voice is a key element in all company policies.

Indah Budiarti, PSI Southeast Asia Acting Sub-regional Secretary, and the Public Services International (PSI) family also expressed their support and congratulations. In their letter, PSI expressed their full support for the smooth running and success of the 10th PP-IP Congress. The congress is expected to serve as a space for democratic consolidation, strengthen organizational unity, and foster leadership and programs capable of addressing the significant challenges facing the electricity sector.

“Congratulations on the 10th PP-IP Congress. May all activities run smoothly and produce the best decisions for members, the organization, the company, the future of Indonesia’s electricity sector, and quality public services,” the letter read.

The Indonesian Socialist Party (PSI) also extended its congratulations on the 27th anniversary of PP-IP. The union’s 27-year journey is seen as a testament to its steadfastness, resilience, and commitment to upholding the interests of its members. For more than a quarter of a century, PP-IP has weathered various challenges and dynamics, yet continues to thrive through a spirit of unity, struggle, and dedication.

Going forward, PP-IP is expected to become stronger, more solid, more modern, more democratic, more independent, and more loved by its members. The electricity transformation must be carried out fairly and sustainably, and based on the mandate of Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution. Any change must involve workers through meaningful social dialogue and ensure that no one is left behind.
