Organising Young Workers Workshop











22 young workers representing PSI affiliated unions in Indonesia together with 14 young workers from Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand were gathering in joined organising young workers workshop in Jakarta, Indonesia from October 15 to October 17,2024.
Working with young workers is one of the priorities of Southeast Asia Sub-region, in which PSI will work together with the affiliates to better organise in the national level and facilitate solidarity support that reinforce organising and growth.
This workshop objectives were to increase opportunities for young worker in public services unions for training and education through give avenue for young workers activities that we need to build new generation of leaders in all our affiliates; strengthen young workers leaders within our affiliated unions in this region; developing and strengthening young workers network in defending the access to quality public services.
As unionists our challenges and issues are not merely wages and working conditions, but more complex than that. Therefore, in this workshop we designed that the program let the participants and the facilitators to discuss and strengthen the unions policies and actions related to the issues of young workers, fighting privatisation & quality public services, climate change & just transition, trade union rights, digitalisation and gender equality.
At the end of the workshop, the participants pledged to work together and strengthen the young workers network in their own unions and the region. Together with their unions they will continuously fight to promote, and protect the rights of young workers in their unions, national, region and globally.
During the workshop, they created the video that summarizes all their challenges and fears as well as the expectations that can be taken by the unions to address the various issues confronting the young workers in Southeast Asia.
